Ford to focus in Voice to Text

Ford motor is researching the feasibility on “voice to text” – hands free text device,  after endorsing a proposal to U.S government on a ban in texting while driving.

“A voice-recognition approach is better than bringing in a piece of paper and unfolding a map or looking down at a mobile device,” Jim Buczkowski, Ford’s director of electronics said Monday. “We’re looking at various combinations of accomplishing that task because it’s being asked for by consumers.”

Earlier this month, Ford became the first automaker to support the texting bill, introduced by U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. The legislation would withhold 25 percent of U.S. highway aid to states that do not ban reading or writing text messages on hand-held devices while driving.

In my opinion, texting is always far more dangerous than talking over the mobile phone. My country, whenever you hold your mobile phone while driving, be it talking or texting, you gonna get a 90USD fine right away. Or probably you could end up like this :-

ST. LOUIS: A Missouri woman was tricked into wiring about US$4,000 (RM14,400) to someone in England after receiving faked messages from a friend on Facebook asking for help, police said.

Jayne Scherrman of Cape Girardeau wired the money through Western Union after receiving what she believed were several requests for help from her friend.

They believe someone took over the Facebook account of a Cape Girardeau County resident, Grace Parry, changed the password so she couldn’t access it and sent out messages saying she and her husband had been detained in London and needed money.

Ophone – China Mobile own Mobile OS

China Daily today reported that China Mobile has launched its own mobile Operating System call Ophone. The purpose to have this OS is to support China homegrown 3G standard – TD-SCDMA 3G.

The release of the long-anticipated Ophone platform, the world’s first mobile phone operating system developed by a telecom carrier, and the Ophone handsets is seen by analysts as a move that could help China Mobile stabilize its slowing profit growth.

China Mobile yesterday also showcased a slew of handsets based on the Ophone system, which were developed by mobile phone makers including Dell, Lenovo, Philips and Samsung.

According to a survey on www.sina.com.cn, the largest Internet portal in China, 51 percent of the 2,161 respondents said they might buy an Ophone, attracted by its “powerful” mobile Internet connection and application functions.
